Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Adam was just minding his own business when he found the portal. It was hidden behind some old wooden crates in the back of the store, and he had no idea what it could possibly be. He walked through it and found himself in a strange place. It looked like a scene out of a video game, with brightly coloured trees and flowers everywhere. He saw a silver sword hanging from a branch high up in the tree, and he knew he had to get it.
He climbed up the tree and grabbed the sword, then made his way back through the portal. He was halfway back through when he realised he had left his phone behind. He was about to walk back through the portal to get it when he heard a voice from behind him.
“That won’t be necessary, Adam.”
He turned to see a woman with long, white hair standing there. She was wearing a strange dress and she looked familiar, but he couldn’t place her.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“I am the goddess of this place, and I have been waiting for you.”
“What do you want from me?”
“I want you to join me in my land, Adam. It is a beautiful place, and there is plenty of adventure waiting for you.”
Adam was hesitant, but the goddess was so persuasive that he finally agreed. He followed her through the portal and found himself in a new world. It was even more amazing than the first, with high mountains and crystal clear lakes. He felt like he had finally discovered his true calling in life, and he was never going back to the boring world he had left behind.
