Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Jack was sceptical when his friends told him about the portal. They swore it was real, and that through it he could go to any place in the world he wanted. So, when they dragged him to the derelict building on the edge of town, he was sceptical to the extreme. However, when they asked him to step through the portal, he didn’t hesitate.
He found himself in a world of green fields and rushing rivers. It was peaceful and beautiful, and he didn’t want to leave. Unfortunately, he soon realised that he was lost. He couldn’t find his way back, and the only thing he could do was sit and wait for his friends to find him.
Eventually, they did. They were laughing and joking, and it was clear that they’d had a lot of fun. Jack was glad he’d been able to join them, but he was also sad that he had to leave. He would never forget the beautiful world he’d found himself in, and he would always be grateful to his friends for bringing him there.
