Jeffrey had always been a little intrigued by old tales of magical portals. He had never seriously considered traveling through one himself, but after hearing about one that had opened up in the city park, he decided to take a look. He found the hidden gate easily enough, but when he tried to enter, he found himself stuck. He tried everything he knew, but nothing worked. Just as he was about to give up, he heard a voice from within the portal say, “If you are willing to part with your heart, you can pass through.” Jeffrey was surprised, but decided to take the risk. He placed his heart into the portal and suddenly found himself inside a beautiful forest. There were creatures all around him, some he had never encountered before, but he didn’t care. He was finally free from the city and able to explore the world beyond.
