Thomas had always been a skeptic, preferring the concrete world of reality over anything that could not be seen or touched. But one day, on a whim, he ventured into an alleyway behind the old abandoned warehouse near his house. As he walked down the narrow, dark passage, he felt something bump his foot. It was a small, furry creature, and it hissed at him before darting away. Thomas laughed and continued on his way.
When he was almost to the end of the alley, something caught his eye. There, in the center of the brick wall, was a small, dark opening. Curiosity getting the better of him, Thomas stepped closer. As he did, a bright light shone out from the portal, making him shield his eyes. When he finally looked back, the alley was gone and he was standing in a vast, green field.
Thomas was overwhelmed with a sense of wonder. He had never seen anything like it, and he couldn’t help but explore. He walked for hours, deep into the forest beyond the field. Finally, tired and hungry, he returned to the portal. As he stepped through, he felt a warm, welcoming energy wash over him and he knew he would return.
