Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Dan was skeptical when his friends told him about the portal. They swore it was real, and that if he ever dared to step through, he’d be able to visit any place he wanted, for as long as he wanted.
So, without further ado, Dan took a step through the portal. He was in a strange land, with strange people. But he had always been curious, so he decided to explore.
He ended up staying there for a while, changing clothes, exploring new places, and meeting new people. It was amazing!
Eventually, though, Dan wanted to go back home. He couldn’t help but feel a little bit guilty about not telling his friends about the portal, but at the same time he was excited to see them again.
He stepped through the portal, and was instantly back home. His friends were waiting for him, looking at him with surprise.
“Where have you been?” They asked him.
“I went on a magical adventure,” Dan replied. “It was great! I can’t wait to tell you all about it!”
