Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Jeff had always been fascinated by the idea of other worlds, and had spent many hoursimagining what they might look like. But until now, he had never imagined anything like this. As he walked down the street, his attention was drawn to the odd looking building in the distance. Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to take a look. As he got closer, he could see that the building was actually a portal to another world. He could feel a strange energy emanating from the entrance, and knew that this was something special. Hesitantly, he stepped through the portal.
As he emerged into the other world, he was overwhelmed by the beauty of the landscape. The sky was a beautiful shade of blue, and the sun shone brightly. There were towering mountains in the distance, and a river ran by. He could see people walking by, and they all seemed happy. It was unlike anything he had ever seen before, and he knew that he had to explore more.
He started walking along the river, marveling at the sights and sounds around him. Eventually, he came to a bridge that crossed over it. As he crossed it, he suddenly felt a sense of fear and confusion. He didn’t know how he had gotten there, or why he was in this strange place. He started to walk back the way he had come, but he was quickly met with obstacles that he didn’t know how to overcome. He started to feel panicked, and knew that he needed to return home.
As he made his way back home, he was filled with a sense of guilt. He had robbed himself of an incredible journey, and he knew that he would never forget this experience. He swore that he would find a way to visit this world again, and he never forgotten the adventure that he had discovered.
