Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

John had always been an open-minded person, and so when he stumbled across a portal one day, he didn’t hesitate to investigate. After following the strange symbols leading him through it, he found himself in a new world entirely.
The first thing he noticed was the bright colors and — even more striking — the lack of pollution in the air. The second thing was the people, all of whom looked happy and healthy. The third was the fact that he could understand the language spoken here, even though it sounded foreign to him.
It didn’t take him long to figure out that he was in some sort of dreamworld, and that the people he was meeting were all versions of himself. He even found a portal back home, and so began a cycle of exploring new worlds and meeting new versions of himself.
