Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Tommy had always been fascinated by portals. The things were so rare, and he had never seen one before. He had always dreamed of finding one. But, until now, he had never actually seen one.
One day, he was out walking in the woods and he discovered a strange portal. He stepped through and found himself in a strange place. There were creatures everywhere, and he had no idea what to do. He was scared, but he also felt excitement. He had never seen anything like this before.
Eventually, he found a path and followed it. He found a place where the portal opened up into a room full of glowing crystals. He approached one and plucked it out of the ground. As he did, the room around him brightened and he found himself in a new place.
This place was strange, but exciting. He could see all the way to the horizon. He walked along the edge of a large cliff and decided to jump. As he did, he found himself in a new place. This place was different, but he could tell that it was also beautiful.
He wandered around for a while, and eventually found another portal. This time, he stepped through and found himself in a different place. This place was filled with snow and ice, and there was a giant castle in the distance.
He walked toward it, and as he did, he found himself surrounded by knights. They were so surprised to see a human there, and he was just as surprised to see them. But, before he could say anything, one of the knights drew his sword and attacked.
Tommy didn’t know how to fight, and he was quickly defeated. He was about to be killed, when he heard a voice from above. It said, “You are not supposed to be here.”
And then, everything went black.
