1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup blackstrap molasses
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Butter and flour two 9×13 inch baking pans and line the bottom with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in molasses and eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract. In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add to butter mixture, and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

3. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake for 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
