1 cup buttermilk

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In a large bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, butter, and sugar until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla extract and buttermilk and mix until well combined. Add flour mixture to chocolate batter and mix until just combined. Stir in chocolate chips.

4. Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
