1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs, beaten together
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour an 8-inch cake pan and line with parchment paper.

2. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then the vanilla.

3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and heavy cream.

4. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick or cake tester comes out clean when inserted into the center of the cake. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
