1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

2/3 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour one 9-inch cake pan.

2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

3. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat butter on medium-high speed until smooth. Gradually add sugar to butter and beat until well combined. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Reduce mixer speed to low and add flour mixture in three parts, beginning and ending with flour. Stir in milk and vanilla extract. Stir in chocolate chips.

5. Pour batter into prepared cake pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
