1 cups (2 sticks) butter, at room temperature
3 cups granulated sugar
6 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup whole milk
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until fully blended.
2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just blended. Stir in the chocolate chips.
3. Pour the batter into a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool the cake in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
