Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Jeff was just about to head out for work when he heard a strange noise coming from his basement. Figuring it was another one of his kids playing around, he went down to investigate. To his surprise, he found a small, circular portal. Hesitant at first, but then intrigued, Jeff stepped through.
As he emerged inside the portal, he was transported to an entirely different world. He was surrounded by tall, looming trees and sparkling streams. He even saw a beautiful castle in the distance.
Jeff didn’t realize it at first, but he was standing in the middle of a magical forest. Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him.
“Welcome to my world, Jeff,” said the voice.
It was a beautiful woman wearing a dress made of delicate fabrics. Jeff couldn’t believe his luck.
“I’m afraid I can’t offer you a tour of my world right now,” she said, “but I will be happy to show you around later. In the meantime, I suggest you explore. There’s plenty to see.”
With that, the woman disappeared, and Jeff was left alone to enjoy his new surroundings. He walked around for hours, marveling at the sights and sounds of the forest.
Finally, he came to a small clearing. In the center of the clearing was a beautiful tree, its branches reaching high into the sky.
Just as Jeff was about to step closer, he heard a rustling in the trees. He turned to see a small, furry creature racing towards him.
When it got close, he realized it was a fuzzy, brown rabbit.
“Hello, little one,” said Jeff, reaching out to pet the rabbit. “What a cute animal you are.”
Just as he was about to say more, he heard a loud cry from nearby. It was the rabbit’s mother, hopping around in distress.
“Mommy! Mommy!”
Jeff turned to see the rabbit’s mother being chased by a large, dark creature. The rabbit was running straight towards Jeff, and he knew he had to do something.
He ran towards the rabbit, picking it up in his arms. Then he threw the rabbit towards the creature, yelling as he did.
The rabbit hit the creature in the face, and it instantly stopped chasing the mother. Jeff turned to see the rabbit’s mother running into her home, safe and sound.
Jeff was grateful to have saved the rabbit, but he was even more grateful that he had discovered the magical portal. Now, every day was a new adventure.
