Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal

Adam had always been interested in the supernatural. He had read every book and watched every movie that he could get his hands on about witches, warlocks, and vampires. So when he stumbled across a portal in the woods one day, he was excited. He had never seen anything like it.
He walked through the portal, and when he emerged, he found himself in a completely different world. He was surrounded by tall trees, and the sun was shining. There was a pond nearby, and he could see lots of animals running around.
Adam was bewildered by the scenery. He didn’t know how to get back home, and he had no idea what he was supposed to do now. He was about to give up when he heard someone calling his name.
He turned to see a girl walking towards him. She was beautiful, with long, golden hair. She had the most friendly eyes, and when she reached him, she smiled.
“Hello, I’m Lily,” she said. “Are you lost?”
Adam nodded. “I don’t know how to get back home,” he admitted. “Do you know how to get to my house?”
Lily’s smile grew wider. “Yes, I do,” she said. “Follow me.”
As they walked, Adam saw more and more people walking around. They all looked so happy and content. It was strange, but he couldn’t help but be drawn to them.
Eventually, they reached a small house. Lily unlocked the door and ushered Adam in.
“My parents are away on a trip, so I’m staying here until they get back,” she said. “Would you like to stay for a while? We can talk, or watch TV.”
Adam was tempted. He had never been so close to a group of people who looked so happy. But he was also curious about how he was supposed to get back home.
“I have to go back home sometime,” he said. “But for now, I’m just gonna sit here and watch TV.”
Lily grinned and led him to the living room. As they sat down, Adam was finally able to relax. He was safe, and he had friends. He would be able to figure out how to get back home, eventually.
