Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal
Response:
As a boy, John always loved going on adventures. But when he turned 20, he decided it was time to find his real one. That’s when he discovered a portal to a world of magic. The first thing he did was buy a ticket to explore.
As soon as he arrived, John saw the floating city. He wandered around, taking in the sights and sounds of the wondrous place. He found a place to sit and relax, and soon fell asleep.
When he woke up, he saw a group of people walking towards him. He stood up to greet them, but they didn’t seem to see him. He called out to them, but they just kept on walking.
Confused, John started to follow them. As he got closer, he could see that they were carrying a unconscious girl. When they got to John, they told him they had found her on the ground, and she had been badly injured.
John knew he had to help her. He took the girl into his arms, and started to walk back to the portal. As he was leaving, he saw the group of people he had met before. They were still walking towards the city, and they didn’t seem to see him anymore.
John knew that he had found his real adventure.
