Prompt: Write a short story about a man who discovers a magical portal
Response:

Gregory was skeptical when he first heard about the portal. His friends had been talking about it for months and he hadn’t believed a word they said. But when he was out of town on business and had a chance to check it out for himself, he couldn’t resist.

He found the portal in an abandoned warehouse, sandwiched between two taller buildings. The metal door was rusty but Greg could see a faint light inside. He tried the handle and it turned easily.

He stepped inside and found himself in another world. He was surrounded by glass cases filled with magical artifacts. He could see people walking on the other side of the cases, but they were all just images.

Greg’s curiosity got the best of him and he started to explore. He found a staircase that led up to a loft. There, he found a door that led to a room with a large mirror in the wall.

He stepped closer and was surprised to see his own reflection. He had never seen himself that way before. He was taller and more muscular than he had ever been before. He could see the excitement in his eyes and he knew he had to find out more.

He started to explore the other rooms of the warehouse, finding more portals and magical artifacts. He knew he had to tell somebody about this place, but he wasn’t sure who to. He was about to leave when he heard voices in one of the other rooms.

He peered inside and saw two men arguing. One of the men was holding a crystal ball and the other was pointing a sword at him. Greg knew he had to get out of there before anything happened. He quickly backed up the stairs and out the door, closing it quietly behind him.

He didn’t know what to make of what had just happened, but he was determined to find out more. He would never forget the magical portal and the amazing world he had discovered inside.
